Sold Out Gig in Seattle - some photos are up
11 Paintings Made in 24 Hours - All Sold! - 24 Hour Art Marathon - Seattle, WA | |
Photo: http://vandenboschphoto.com/ See more photos Seattle is my favorite city. This was probably my fifth or sixth visit to this overly caffeinated northern city, though my first time in wet and dark season. I took the excuse to be there by taking up the strenuous event, plus the long drive and traveling expenses. This 19th annual 24 hour art marathon made my second attendance. This year, I managed to sell all 11 pieces I produced during the 24 hour period, naming me a MVP (most valuable player) of the event. I have put some photos to a flickr set. Be aware, though, that those photos are placed with the previous CoCA events back in 2010 and 2009. I didn't want to have too many sets separated by years so I put them in one; I already have too many sets in my flickr account. The ones with "2011" in titles are the photos from this year. San Francisco Open Studios 2011
I am so glad I was able to show my work in Fort Mason Center last weekend (October 22 & 23, 2011)! I had a grand time (and sales)!
I had always wanted to show my work in San Francisco but didn't know how. Also, I was a bit hesitant to approach San Francisco. Each time I went there for whatever the errand I was taking care of, I got lost, and my Google navigation by Verizon often lost signals especially in downtown San Francisco. If I was not lost, I was stuck in a traffic.
Those one-way roads drive me absolutely frustrated and other drivers (especially cab drivers) would honk at me and yell at me, saying mean things. If traffic system is complicated, parking my commercial van was often impossible. I feel as if I am a wild animal strayed into a big city by mistake each time I was in San Francisco.
In any event, I think people in San Francisco responded exceptionally well to my dizzy tipsy line paintings. My mini notecards were selling like crazy.
This was the first time I used my own track lights to lit my painting, and I am very pleased with the result of it. Unfortunately I have only one photo from this show, which is posted above. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and didn't take time to take photos.
I am now moving onto the next things that are coming. Sacramento and Seattle!
